Since the late sixties, the PRIDE Center has provided a welcoming, empowering, and supportive environment for members of the LGBTQ community. Baltimore was built in the early 17th century as a settlement for Lord Baltimore, an Irish member of the House of Lords. ![]() The city has a number of LGBTQ-friendly businesses, organizations, and events, and is also home to the country’s first openly gay mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.īaltimore, Maryland’s capital city and economic engine, is the state’s largest. Today, Baltimore is home to a thriving LGBTQ community and is considered one of the most gay-friendly cities in the United States. Since then, Baltimore has made significant progress in making itself a more inclusive and welcoming place for all. ![]() In 2004, the city launched the “Baltimore Pride Campaign” in an effort to make the city more welcoming to the LGBTQ community.
